The Dalmally Horseshoe

After 2km along a hard track, the Allt Coire Ghlais is crossed by bridge. A steep climb up a narrow ridge leads to Stob Garbh. The ridge is followed North to its highest point at Stob Diamh and beyond to a further peak before descending East down a long ridge to a bridge over another burn and rejoin the outward hard track.

Terrain: Mainly trackless, soft grassy moorland, rock strewn ridges and steep grassy slopes craggy in parts.

Distance: 11 km, duration 7 hrs, total ascent 1075m to max ht. 998m.

Start point: Roadside parking just up the B8077 where it meets the A85 at left hand bend 2miles beyond Dalmally.
