Great time away at the Isle of Arran Mountain Festival 17 – 20 May 2013, I camped for the first time at Glenrosa Campsite. The weekend started sunny but had torrential rain during my stay where my tent was floating with river bursting its banks.
It was great experience.
Starting at Glen Rosa campsite, this hillwalk heads up Glen Rosa to the Garbh Allt. After the steep climb the path levels out over peat flats before ascending steeply to Beinn Nuis 792m.
Continuing the path by Flat Iron Tower make our way to Beinn Tarsuinn 826m, the first of the two corbetts.
Descending down past Consolation Tor to Bealach Fhir-bhogha and bypass below A’ Chir rather than heading along it.
Also bypass Cir Mhor, before ascending sharply to Caisteal Abhail 859m, the second corbett of the day and the second-highest after Goatfell.
The descent along Sail an Im 508m, is straightforward then descent down to the North Glen Sannox burn and finished at the Glen Sannox carpark.
